Introduction

 

     The Judicial Branch is the third branch of the United States’ government.  It serves to complete the checks and balances essential to our democracy. The Judiciary works to interpret and validate the laws passed by Congress and upheld by the Executive Branch. The Judiciary is the protector of the Constitution, using this document to substantiate or reject all other laws created in America. This often undermines portions of the government but has proved its worth many times - whether it be establishing the rights of women and African Americans or protecting personal freedoms, the Judicial Branch has made decisions that have affected millions of people.
